SOFIA TANNENHAUS | Founder & Executive Director

Dr. Sofía Tannenhaus is the Director of the CARPE Collaborative, a college access network, at High Tech High’s Center for Research on Equity & Innovation. Motivated by her background, nearly all of Dr. Tannenhaus’ professional projects have sought to improve educational outcomes for low-income, First Generation, and Latino students. Sofía has immersed herself in work with various organizations and institutions to provide more equitable college access for historically underrepresented students. When not at work, Sofía can be found chasing her daughter, exercising, and advancing the work of the Just4Dust Foundation.

ALICIA JOHAL | Secretary & Advisory Board Member

Alicia is the Assistant Principal at her alma mater, Jefferson Middle School, in Oceanside, CA. She also works in higher education, cultivating teacher candidates and graduate students before they enter the classroom. She has taught science and robotics for the last 9 years and is passionate about designing inclusive STEM programs for underserved communities. She experiences edtech through the lens of equity and is passionate about supporting language learners.

BRETT TIMMINS | Treasurer & Advisory Board Member

Brett is a sports aficionado. Whether it's playing sports, watching professional sports, coaching his nephews' hockey teams, or running half marathons, Brett loves anything active and competitive. Brett and Dustin were best friends their entire lives and he is committed to the foundation's success and honored to serve as treasurer and an advisory board member.

RICARDO CAMPOS | Advisory Board Member

Ricardo Campos is a sports executive with over 15 years of experience in the U.S. soccer industry. Ricardo's expertise includes cultivating long-term partnerships, developing exceptional culture, and managing substantial budgets to ensure operational excellence and goal achievement. Recently serving as President of San Diego Loyal Soccer Club, Ricardo grew and scaled the club through partnerships and brought a greater soccer experience to the community. Before serving as President, Ricardo gained much of his expertise as the New York Red Bulls (NYRB) Technical Director where he was part of the leadership team that built Red Bull Arena and Red Bull Training Facility.

IRIS MAGID | Advisory Board Member

Iris Magid has 15 years of professional experience in development. After graduating from The Pennsylvania State University, she started her fundraising career working at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society; followed by the Wharton School and UC San Diego. Currently, she is the Executive Director at the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. She’s served as a consultant and board member to Slow Food Urban San Diego, Cornerstone Improv, and Hecho por Nosotros. In her spare time, she enjoys being silly with Dustin’s daughter, Elena. 

CHRIS WHITE | Advisory Board Member

Chris White has over two decades of experience as a Director of College Advising for charter school organization, High Tech High. Prior to this role, he served as the Assistant Director of Admissions at the University of San Diego where he led the university’s multicultural outreach initiatives and Educational Opportunity admissions processes. Chris is a member of the Board of Directors for The Common Application, serving on the Western Regional Advisory Council for The Collegeboard, and sitting on National Advisory Boards for college & career management systems: Naviance and Scoir. He has dedicated his career to supporting students on their path to college.

SAL ZIZZO | Advisory Board Member

Sal Zizzo is a former professional soccer player. Most recently, he played for the San Diego Loyal and was a broadcaster for the team. Previously, he played for the New York Red Bulls and Atlanta FC, among other teams. He is now a youth soccer coach and real estate investor.
